Hummus with a twist

I really like hummus. It is healthy, easy to prepare and so versatile. I use it as a bread spread, dip or even with pasta.

Ingredients:

1 can chickpeas (drained and rinsed)

6 cherry tomatoes

2 garlic cloves (finely chopped, or pressed through a garlic press)

2 tsp cumin

1 tbsp parsley

1 tbsp tahini

3-4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1/2 tbsp sesame oil

1 tsp lemon juice

black pepper

Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until desired consistency is achieved.

You are what you eat!

Is your body a colorful garden or a graveyard?

Nothing is more important for our health than the food we eat. Ever heard the sentence: Let food be thy medicine. Well, it cannot be more true.

For our health, it is very important to have a connection with the food that we put into our body. Food is the fuel that keeps our bodies alive. Without the right food, we would not survive. However, what you put into your body can either nourish it or cause diseases. Therefore, it is important to know what belongs into your body and what not. Just because it maybe tastes good doesn’t mean it should be eaten.

If you think about it, it is very simple. If you have a body that is filled with chemicals, sugars, rotting corpses and fats and on the other hand a body that is filled with, vegetables, grains, nuts and fruits.Which one do you think is healthier?

Our basic instincts tend to choose the right foods for us. Unfortunately, in today’s society our basic instincts are manipulated by the media, commercials, traditions and prejudices.

Think about this: Who is putting most money into marketing and commercials? Fast food chains and soft drink companies of course. Ever seen a commercial for broccoli or kale? The reason behind this is because, nobody would touch those fast food products or soft drinks if they were not marketed in a way that makes them hip and trendy. In addition, all those products contain additives that make them addictive. So people literally cannot stop eating or drinking them. Their brain is manipulated. Remember those potato chips you could not stop eating? Well, that was intended that way in the first place.

So, it is important to free yourself from additives and brainwashing commercials. Doesn´t a fresh squeezed orange juice sound much better than for example:  Carbonated Water, Sugar, Orange Fruit from Concentrate , Citric Acid, Vegetable Concentrates ,Orange Flavourings, Preservative (Potassium Sorbate), Malic Acid, Acidity Regulator (Sodium Citrate), Sweeteners (Acesulfame K, Aspartame), Antioxidant (Ascorbic Acid), Stabiliser (Guar Gum), Phenylalanine   —>the ingredients of Fanta.

The same goes for processed meats: What sounds better? Fresh strawberries or a combination of lower-grade muscle trimmings, fatty tissues, head meat, animal feet, animal skin, blood, liver and other edible slaughter by-products —> basic ingredients in a hot dog.

Don’t be fooled by nice packaging and commercials!
